📜 What Happened

Pebble invented the modern smartwatch market — its 2012 Kickstarter raised $10.3M (the platform's record), and its 2015 campaign raised $20.3M more. Fans adored it. It reportedly turned down a ~$740M acquisition offer from Citizen in 2015; eighteen months later it sold its software scraps to Fitbit for ~$23M and shut down, refunding backers pennies.
