📜 What Happened

Colonel Tom Parker took 25%, then 50% of Elvis's earnings — the highest management cut in entertainment history. Elvis never toured internationally (fortunes waiting in Europe and Japan) because, it later emerged, Parker was an undocumented immigrant with no passport — and never told him. In 1973 Parker sold the rights to Elvis's entire back catalog — everything before that year — for a fraction of its worth, taking half the proceeds. Elvis never renegotiated, never audited, never left.
