Dunzo was Bangalore's beloved verb — 'just Dunzo it.' Google invested; Reliance put in $200M at a $775M valuation. Then quick-commerce arrived and Dunzo chose to fight Zomato-Blinkit, Zepto, and Swiggy Instamart simultaneously — dark stores, ads everywhere, deep discounts — a capital war against opponents with 10x the ammunition. When the next round didn't come: unpaid salaries for months, vendor lawsuits, cofounders exiting, and by 2024-25 the app effectively went dark. Being loved, it turned out, was not a moat.
