Anna Sorokin, posing as 'Anna Delvey', a German heiress with a $67 million trust fund, talked her way into New York's most exclusive circles between 2013 and 2017. She charmed bankers, private-jet brokers, hotel managers and art-world insiders with a flawless pitch: a private arts foundation, huge wire transfers 'on the way', and effortless confidence. She flew private, stayed in the most expensive hotels, and never paid — because the money never existed. Her presentation skills were so good that she nearly secured a $22 million loan from a major bank. The con collapsed only when she tried to cash a $100,000 cheque with insufficient funds. Convicted in 2019, she served years in prison — and her story became a Netflix show, proving she could still sell the story after the fraud was exposed.
